Shifts

Our self perception constantly changes and adapts, shifting from one form to another.

This series is an attempt to depict something unstable, something both dissolving and emerging.

Our self-perception is a fluid and evolving construct, shaped by experiences and circumstances. It adapts and changes, dissolving and emerging. It reflects our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, and grows through life’s challenges. In times of uncertainty, it evolves and emerges, revealing new strengths and self-discovery.

I used a polystyrene mannequin head as symbol of our inner self, and I lit it with uv and coloured lights.

Our self-perception is a complex and multidimensional construct that is constantly evolving and adapting to new experiences and circumstances. It is not a static entity, but rather a dynamic process that is shaped by a variety of internal and external factors.

It is a reflection of our innermost thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, and it is shaped by the experiences we have throughout our lives. By embracing the fluid and evolving nature of our self-perception, we can become more resilient and adaptable, and we can cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance.

As we navigate through life, we encounter different challenges that require us to adapt and adjust our self-perception. Our beliefs, values, and attitudes are not set in stone, but rather they are malleable and subject to change over time.

Sometimes, our self-perception can become unstable and uncertain, especially when we are faced with significant life transitions or unexpected events. During these times, we may question who we are and what we stand for, and we may feel like our sense of self is dissolving or disappearing altogether.

Even during times of uncertainty and instability our self-perception is constantly evolving and emerging in response to new experiences and challenges. As we navigate through these changes, we may discover new strengths and abilities within ourselves, and we may develop a deeper understanding of who we are and what we want out of life.
